How you can observe like Ayanokoji Kiyotaka

A short guide on how to better understand body language.

Welcome

In this edition, we are going to dive into how to observe like Ayanokoji. We are going to practice with body language tells from Classroom of The Elite, so you can apply it to real-world scenarios.

Let’s dive right in.

Todays Agenda:

  • Observe like Ayanokoji: A guide on how to read people’s Body Language.

  • Resource Roundup: 3 Resources to Improve Observational Awareness.

  • Editor Wanted: Looking to hire an editor for Nameless Mind.

  • Future plans: A look into the next couple of months and what I have planned.

Section 1 - Observe Like Ayanokoji

Ayanokoji is a master at understanding body language along with visual cues. He uses his knowledge in this field to influence and predict other’s behavior.

But how can you observe like him?

Well, we will first look at some examples from Classroom of the Elite then learn how to apply them in real-life.

Class Introductions

Example 1: Koenji

This scene from the very first episode may seem irrelevant, but there is a lot to depict. In the very first shot of class D, there is already one super big tell. Let’s see if you can notice it.

If you said Koenji’s body language, then you would be right. This position tells a lot about him. Think about it; they literally just arrived at class for the first time, but he is already acting as if he owns the place.

  • Just from this image, we can depict that he:

  • Has no regard for authority

  • Is very confident

  • Feels domination over the classroom

Koenji continues this behavior throughout the entire introduction, which confirms his personality without him saying a word.

Example 2: Hirata

Another obvious body language tell is with Hirata. Hirata basically establishes himself as the leader right away, asking the entire class to introduce themselves.

As you can see here, he uses open body language to convey friendliness, and he goes first, which furthers his leadership status. Based on only 3 seconds of Hirata being on screen, we can assume:

  • He is a leader

  • He is an extrovert

  • And friendly

Ayanokoji makes this exact same assumption, saying, "I bet that guy is going to be the leader in class."

Example 3: Ayanokoji

After watching a few more introductions, Ayanokoji states, "These introductions will determine everyone’s standing in class." Ayanokoji knows that first impressions are everything. And in this case, he wants to keep his abilities on the low.

So he uses a weak tone and body language when he introduces himself. Just look how awkward he seems here.

He purposely uses body language that makes him look weak. Not doing anything with your arms shows insecurity and a lack of confidence. Ayanokoji also says “uh” after every single word, making sure his mouth matches his body so others don't believe he is lying.

How do we apply this?

The key thing to look for in Body language is consistency. If you look back up at the last picture, Koenji is still in the same position. This confirms his personality without a doubt.

Whenever you are reading somebody don’t just go off one moment, look for a pattern. A good way to practice your body language reading is to look around you. Body language is anywhere humans are, most people get lost in their own minds and never consider what another is thinking.

If you can even attempt to read just one person per day over a span of a year you will do it automatically without even thinking. It is the same as training a muscle or building a habit.

Have no idea what a body language position means when you see it?

For example: Nose Scratching

Just look it up, all the information is right at your fingertips. You just have to be curious enough to find it.

I hope this section was insightful for you.
