Background

If you haven’t seen the show, that is totally fine, I will give you some basic background information.

Lelouch plans to use 2 main strategies to take down the Britannian soldiers. Number 1, the high ground, is a very famous phrase but also very applicable as you can see everything and travel faster than those on the low ground. Number 2, the unorthodox surprise method, unorthodox is when you do something unpredictable. In this example, Lelouch uses a landslide to wipe out the Britannian troops.

The high ground makes this possible, coupled with something so unexpected like a surprise landslide attack makes this an almost perfect execution by Lelouch. Using these strategies along with his leadership allowed the Black Knights to win this battle despite being outnumbered 1 to 100.

The first thing that should be noted in this scene is everyone's doubt. Right as Lelouch mentions that the only option is to fight, every single one of them has no belief that they could even stand up to the Britannian forces.

Bad leaders have no real belief in the goals of the group and would instantly cower following the doubts of the rest. However, this is not the case with Lelouch; he knows how to take that doubt and turn it into motivation.

Lelouch first gains their trust by letting them know that his goals are the same as theirs. He does this by offering any of them to shoot him freely if they don’t believe in following him. Obviously after seeing that he will literally sacrifice his life for the goal of freedom, they follow without question.

But there’s still Britannia that he has to deal with, they are still stuck on top of the mountain without any escape. What may seem like a dire situation is actually what Lelouch wanted from the very beginning.

To apply this to your own life and become an excellent leader just as Lelouch. You need to fully believe in the end goal, because as Lelouch says "If the king doesn't move, then his subjects won't follow". Even if you aren’t a natural-born leader, by adapting this behavior, you will become so cunning; others will have no choice but to follow you.

How to enter the Zone

Have you ever entered “The Zone”?

Your consciousness is engulfed by absolute focus. Your brain picks up information like a magnet above a basket of nails. Your brain hits its peak. Every movement your body does is perfect. Kicking a football, dribbling a basketball, writing a paper.

The craziest part about this state is you won't even realize you are doing it. Even your vision is out of this world. You see everything, every small detail there is to notice.

Without even realizing it, you will exit the zone… full of adrenaline. What would it be like to be able to control such a state?

Well, that is the topic for today; we are going to go through some quick steps to how you can better control this state.

1. Choose an activity that provides the right balance of challenge and skill for you personally. If the challenge exceeds your abilities, it leads to anxiety. If your skills surpass the challenge, it causes boredom. The zone happens when there's an engaging balance.

2. Set a clear goal for the session; know what you want to achieve before you try and enter the state.

3. Minimize distractions around you. Give the activity your complete, undivided attention for a set period of time. 30-90 minutes is ideal. Don’t listen to music, podcasts, or anything, as they will prevent you from doing your best work.

4. Stay fully present throughout the process. Don't let your mind drift to the past or future. If you start to become unfocused, reset for 5 minutes and try again.

With regular practice, you will be able to access the zone more frequently. But there is one thing that I would like to mention that will keep you out of the zone. The one rule with the zone is it does not open for those who beg. You cannot overthink it or think about trying to enter because that is what keeps you out. To avoid doing this, you need to generally enjoy what you are doing or clear your mind with meditation beforehand.
