The Mind Games of Yuuichi Katagiri

A breakdown of how Yuuichi wins every encounter

Welcome

Hello again folks, today we will be breaking down Yuuichi Katagiri from Tomodachi game. My editing course's release date has been delayed until Wednesday the 27th. I am trying to make it as high quality as possible, that's the reason for the delay. I will still be giving out 5 completely free copies to you guys.

But without further ado let's get straight into it.

Todays Agenda

  • Scene analysis: Full breakdown of Yuuichi's entire third round in the Tomodachi Game.

  • Self-improvement tip: How to remember 100% of what you learn (seriously).

  • Resource roundup: 3 different self-improvement resources for the week.

Yuuichi’s Mind Games

Context: At this point in the show, Yuuichi and Tenji are in the third game against another team. They are playing hide and seek. Tenji is the hider while Yuuichi is out on the field alone. It's 1v4 in this situation and the other team is a basketball team. We are going to break down how Yuuichi was able to come out on top despite the odds stacked against him.

Go watch the show on Aniwatch.to if you haven't already (Use a VPN or ad blocker).

For context, watch the rules of how their Hide and Seek works here → https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHVbYQ2NZFQ&ab_channel=YkSenpaiTV

To start off Yuuichi’s strategy may not seem very smart as all he was doing for the first few days was sleeping and eating. It seems he isn’t even trying to win the game at all. However there is genius in this strategy.

By simply staying at the main spot Yuuichi is able to get to know his enemy very well. He spends 2 full days listening, understanding, and learning everything he can about the enemy.

Rule number 2 of the 48 laws of power: "Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies."

Yuuichi follows this law to a tee. He doesn't trust Tenji even though he's on the same team; he believes Tenji is going to hit the give up button and that's part of the reason he waits so long to bring food. He is testing to see if Tenji fully trusts him to win.

After Yuuichi profiles each of his enemies, he starts slowly cracking away at them by making comments/conversation that will get them aggravated or reveal information.

He keeps doing this until he finally gets something he can use. Yuuichi finally gets Onigawara alone, and this is after he has had a chance to study them for a few days.

Yuuichi chooses to target Onigawara because he realized he has the biggest heart along with the hottest temper, a very easy target to persuade.

When Onigawara is alone with Yuuichi, he starts by acting overly friendly as he knows Onigawara will respond. He points out the strength in their captain. Onigawara bites and immediately tells the deciding factor in the game. He tells Yuuichi that he was the reason the captain was injured and has been practicing ever since to give the captain one more shot.

Yuuichi has now got everything he needs to win the game by absolute force. At the final push of the game, Yuuichi starts the phone call which decides. Here's how he breaks Kadokura the "boss".

He starts the call off by saying he is going to punch Onigawara until Kadokura hits the give up button. Yuuichi starts punching him but it wasn't enough to break either of them. However, this is when Yuuichi says "I'll have to break something that can't be fixed".

He then brings up the basketball team and talks about how Onigawara was the reason Kadokura was injured and has been practicing ever since. Yuuichi exclaims he will break Onigawara's fingers if Kadokura doesn't push the give up button.

This is something I talked about in my Light Yagami video; this is called a "forcing move".

A forcing move is when the person is basically forced to do something similar to when you put a king in check when playing chess, it has to move.

Kadokure doesn’t want Onigawara’s basketball career to be over as Kadokure knows Onigawara’s been working very hard to bring him back to the team.

You need your fingers to shoot a ball so this is why it's so forcing. Yuuichi starts with a countdown until he breaks it, the countdown gets to zero and he actually breaks his own finger to give the impression to Kadokure that he broke Onigawara’s finger.

Kadokure recognizes the sound and when Yuuichi explains he is going to break another finger Kadokure instantly folds and loses the game for group K.

Takeaways:

  • Know thy enemy before taking action, learn everything you can about them.

  • Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies.

  • Search for the most emotional target as they are the easiest to persuade.

  • Appeal to interests and be friendly to get one to reveal information.

  • Any piece of information can be used in some way, no matter how small.

  • Find forcing moves, where there is literally zero option for any other decision.

  • Lastly, have enough will to win and follow through with your actions, no matter what.

Remeber 100% of what you learn

This memory method is called the Sirianni Method. I have been testing it out for the past few months and it is without a doubt the best memory technique for large amounts of information. Here's how to do it.

Grab a notecard or any type of small note.

Whenever you come across any information you want to remember, you are going to grab a notecard.

Start by titling it relevantly to what is being learned. I am going to fill one out with you as an example.

Next, you want to fill out the body, making sure the information is formal and descriptive. Make sure to leave a blank space to the left of the card for later.

It should look like this.

Now that you have that part down, you are going to do the magic part: add a "connection". What I mean by this is connect the information to a real-life experience, person, or anything that you can relate to.

Here's what that looks like.

The science behind why this works is because our brain remembers things that have emotion attached to them, so if we can evoke our brain to do that with the connection. You will be able to remember everything.

There's one last step to hammer it home and that's to draw a picture on the back of the card for a visual. This is up to your creativity and however you think you are going to remember it best.
